Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 has 60+ design wins

Qualcomm President confirms

Just a second ago, a President of Qualcomm, Derek Aberle, has confirmed at the Snapdragon 820 unveil event that the company scored 60 plus design wins.

The Snapdragon 820 has been a hot topic for a while, and many do expect that it might get the company to a top performance position. A bunch of journalists gathered in New York were asking the key question if the chip is throttling and overheating, and everyone with the Qualcomm shirt at the event was convincing us that this wont be the case.

The company is very confident that this is going to be a Helo product and the combination of 64-bit 14nm FinFET second generation, ironically made by Samsung.

The Kyro cores are 64-bit capable and they are supposed to be very fast and efficient. The SoC will also include an Adreno 530 latest generation GPU with Qualcomm Spectra camera ISP.

The Hexagon 680 DSP was introduced as well as the Snapdragon Smart protect. Four Kyro processors should be enough for everyone and the X12 Cat 12 LTE modem with speeds up to 600 Mbps and up to 150 Mbps uplink with support for LTE Unlicensed. The 802.11ad WiFi as well as the 802.11ac MU-MIMO are a part of the Snapdragon 820 network part and the company is supposed to show the first live demos later today.
